Harrassing O-Harris

I've been on this weird shopping frenzy for the past couple of months now (you thought I was gonna say weeks-I did too- but NOPE, sadly, its officially been months).  I can't control it so I've decided to embrace it, the way I embrace everything in life, the good, the bad, and the ugly... Why you may ask? Well, because if there's nothing I can do about it (ie. to control it) I might as well welcome it and wait for this episode of shopaholic-ness to fade out (its bound to happen right?!).  I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed anyway because my poor bank account can't take it no more.
On a random DC e-mail I got a while back, I came across this hand bag designer that sold the funkiest, 80's-esque bags by a brand called Olivia Harris (never heard of it before) and fell in lourve with it/her/the entire collection.  Their prices aren't too shabby either which I thought was an added bonus.
Anywho,  I had to look everywhere to finally find one (the one I wanted was sold out at their site-I wrote in asking/pleading for one and was referred to Saks).  Since the 80's came back with avengeance a couple of months ago, I've wanted a round bag-remember them from the 80's?  Olivia Harris gave me THE perfect one: round, studded, with a chain strap too (my dream trend checklist).
Check out the pic and I'll make sure I post one of myself wearing it on my little vacacay to Beirutingus (don't ask!).

xoxo

P.S. At Saks, you can find the 'Studded Baby Ball Leather Hobo Bag' in a navy blue color (mine!) made exclusively for them! How cool is that?

Taking a Stroll

Have you ever had such a great happy day hanging out with your family?  Cheesy I know, but I honestly had one of those a couple of weeks ago.  My Aunt (remember the one who lives in Beirut click here for a quick flashback) was in town and we managed to go to this adorable coffee shop right by the sea (noooo sea shells by the sea shore I'm afraid... it kinda looked nasty because of the low tide).  It was part of one of our newly established museums that show cases my tiny country's beautiful and long history.  Anywho, so I'm attaching a picture of the outfit I wore that day with one of the oldest castles on the island in the background (click here for more info on Bahrain and it's history).

Let me know what y'all think of my outfit!

xoxo

P.S. I have a jacket (made from completely recycled material) from Urban Outfitters that I bought almost 5 years ago now (with none other than Super Mario and Luigi printed lining), a tee shirt from H&M ('borrowed' from my sister), my AG ex-boyfriend jeans shorts, grey tights from somewhere in london, and my blue ballet pumps from Blue Velvet.

Say Hello to my Little Babushkas

I've starting collecting Russian Dolls lately because I find them beyond pretty.  I love the details that each 'Babushka' has whether it's on her head scarf, dress, or both.  They're absolute gorgeousity (new word)!  So, when I saw these key covers at Forever21 I went absolutely berserk over them!  Aren't they adorable?!  And the cool thing is I can finally tell the difference between my keys (now I know which one opens the front gate and door).  They're by Fred called Matryosh Keys (they don't have a website but click on link to buy them online) and they make me absolutely happy just by looking at them! They're sooooo bloody cute!

Love love love my little baboushkas BIG TIME!

Go Onesie Yourself

Item # 10:

I've wanted a onesie for as long as I can remember... blame it on the four year old in me if you want but I just really really want/ed one.  The thing is with onesies at the tender age of 27 is you really don't wanna look 4 anymore... You kinda wanna pull off a 'Hey, don't I make a onesie look super sexy' kinda look.  I know its a tough sell but go with it for now PLEASE (its Christmas/New Years/National Day so keep an open mind). Soooooo when I came across this one being sold at Karmaloop (who also happens to sell a million other brands including my all time favorite Wildfox) I actually saw my sexy onesie sexy dream come true.  They're by Paul Frank, which makes them edgy and cool and less baby-ish (I'm not a big fan of the PF monkey but with this look it works-takes it from cutesy looking to creepy/sexy).  They have them available in both red and black so for those of you who really wanna put the SEXAAAY in onesies you've got options-how thoughtful of them right?
I think all I want for Christmas is a onesie... such a small request don'tchya think?  I'm officially adding it to my bday wish list (because I need to revive that list before I hit the 6 month mark).  Anywho, go on, onesie yourself out this holiday season!  You know you'd be sooooo comfy in one that it'll be hard for you to take it off!

Yoga Bear!

I did yoga for a while almost a year ago (emphasis on the word did) and seriously reaped the benefits that came from all the stretching, breathing, and relaxing.  I haven't been able to go back to it though because of my poor bank account (I seem to keep blaming my poor bank account for the most mediocre things I know that and accept it about myself) and lack of time (a much more reasonable excuse if you ask me).
I've realized that the older I get the more problems I have with schedules and time commitments.  I just can't constrain myself in that way and with a busy social and work life (when you live on this tiny island you can't escape them) its tough to stick to a precise work out regime.
Moving along, no more yoga pity party for moi, when I stumbled upon (hehehe...) this site (thanks to DC) it made me wanna go back to being organized... kinda.... sorta.  Yes, I'm a shallow fashion lover who hearts pretty things OH SO MUCH (enough to make me wanna jump start my yoganess at least).  This frickin' fab yoga mat bag is absolutely delicious don'tchya thank?  There's even side pockets for your water bottle!  I love it when a designer pays such emaculate attention to details because it never goes unnoticed (especially if you're as detail obsessed as me).  This yoga pilates bag by oGorgeous is absolutely to die for right ???  So go on and grab one (you could always fake it if you want it that bad, that's what I'd do).

Stunning Studders!

My 100th Entry (woop, woop):

My obsession lately with studs has officially gone into over drive.  I'm SOOOO totally and utterly going GAGA over them.  I just can't seem to stop myself.  I think I must have gotten hypnotized and I just can't snap out of it.  I saw these shoes while super stalking 'The Guardian' website.  Yes, I did say stalk.  Because I don't just browse the site, I literally open almost every single link, and watch every single video on that thing.  I just CAN NOT stop.  It's a cool site, TRUST ME.  The Brits most definitely know fashion.  Soooo, when I saw these on their 'Key fashion trends of the season' I had to print screen the hell outta that page to show you all how GORGEOUS those booties are.  Oh, yeah, I almost forgot I'm obsessing over ankle boots too.  No other shoe seems to attract me this season (correction: no other high-heeled shoe).  Aren't they adorable?!  They're from Office for only 95 pounds (around BD 57)-not too shabby eh?!

Enjoyyy bootiful shoe shopping!

xoxo

P.S.  I can't seem to find them on their main site.  NO clue why. HUMBUG!

Creativity is Key

I got sent this amazing link from a friend on the amazing Stumple Upon (I think its given the phrase a whole new meaning now).  I fell in love with this concept (by Damjan Stankovic) that combines creativity with style, and these glasses ciphers do just that.  To any average person, before pouring in any liquid, they'd look like any normal (decorative) glasses but once the liquid/drink is inside that's when the magic'll (I think I just made this up) happen.  I was never a HUGE milk drinker in my teens (I'm still not actually) but if I had a glass like this around the house I might have tried to drink some more often.  I have this weird obsession with all glasses.  I love them with a passion especially the ones that draw me to them because of their shape, color, or in this case the combination of the former two with a whole lotta style (I've been watching 'Friday Night Lights' I think the Texan accent is rubbing off on me).  I don't think they're in production yet, but hopefully they will be.

Love love love them!  I hope you do too!!! :)

OHHHH Nepal!

I'm hoping some of you noticed that I've been gone for a couple of days... if you haven't then shame on you (I'm crying on the inside).  A couple of friends and I decided to pack up our belongings and head out to the lovely high altitudey country of Nepal.  High altitude is a completely new concept for us poor Bahrainis (who are basically used to flattitude) which was another reason why we were so uber excited about this whole brand new experience.  It's not every day that you wake up and get a view of the Himalayan Mountain Range.  Anywho,  on this trip I discovered how funky the peoples of Nepal were when it came to their style (effortlessly funky) so I thought I'd post a few pics from that trip every now and then to show you guys just how cool they really were/are.  Soooo... ENJOOOOY! :)

Seeking Balenciaga

I've been obsessing over finding the perfect Balenciage vintage bag (vintage-Y).  I really want one from the collection that came out almost 10 years ago now.  I couldn't afford it then, (can't really afford a spanking brand new one now either) but there's something about that collection (the leather, studs, everythang) that I'm absolutely in LOURVE with.  It could be any one of the bags (prefer either the day or city design though)... but I want one from the year 2000 launch of the 'classic handbag' collection.  So, you're probably wondering why I don't go around looking for it on ebay?!  Well, I could/did/have but the thing is I want to buy it from a reliable (I'm not saying ebay isn't reliable here...) source.  Friends, friends of friends, someone I can actually trace it back to.  Am I being too picky?!  Or just plain snobby and demanding?!  I love my bags OH SO MUCH that if I were to buy a second hand one (which is what I'm trying to do here) I'd like to know where it came from-was it loved or abused?  I know, BAG SNOB... but if you guys see how well I take care of my bags, purses, clutches, etc you'd totally understand where I was coming from.  I won't settle for medium or small either- my dream Balenciaga is a large, curvaceous, and roomy appendage (yes, it'll be like another body part that I can't possibly live without).

So my PFFers, if you do know of anyone in Bahrain or a friend of a friend somewhere close by, who wants to sell/give-away/through out their Balenciaga please lemme know!!! :)  Tell 'em that I'll love it, kiss it, and take care of it forever and ever and ever!!! :)

I Just Feel Like Dancing

I love people that do the most random things and kinda leave an ever lasting impression on someone (participating or just watching it later on).  This is kinda what happened to me when I first clicked on this link.  If any of you know me you'd definitely be aware of my obsession with flash mobs.  They're fun, completely unexpected, and always manage to just cheer you up.  This link that I'm about to post I'm not really sure about, I don't know if it falls into the flash mob category but whatever it is I haven't been able to stop grinning.  I'm talking stupid, silly, grin, from ear to ear... looking like a complete and utter buffoon.
I'm in love with this guy, his concept, and what he sought out to do.  I don't know how he managed to get people from all over to dance, or what made him dance in the first place (in that particular way I might add), but whatever his reasons/weapons of persuasion were he managed to pull it off perfectly.  I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!!! :)

FOXY TREAT part deux

FOXY TREAT # 3 & 4:

It's that time of the month ma peoples (no NOT that time... jeeez)! YAY!  I can't believe the 7th is finally here which means I need to show you lovelies what my FOXY TREATS of the month are.  Yep, my obsession with all things WILDFOXian (I'm thinking of starting my own movement) is still going strong... I really can't help it... I'm still soooo in lourve with them.  I really don't know what to do wif myself!  Anywho, since all the 'happy' and love filled holidays are almost upon us, I thought it might be appropriate to pick something that has some connection to 'tis season.  I know both pieces are similar and are... a tad bit... grim but I'm asking you to find the beauty in them.  If you look at how the heart shimmers and shines you'll see it!  And no to answer your question I currently DO NOT have a bleeding/broken heart I just thought it would be a cool reminder that someone somewhere might need you to mend theirs (awww! the romantic in my ooozes out every now and then).  One's a poncho to snuggle up in since it's finally winter-ish in Bahrain and the other is a raglan tee (didya think I'd pick skimpy things-its cold outside).  Both pieces feature the adorable (yes, kinda disturbing) bleeding heart so enjoy it!

xoxo

P.S. Listen to this fab song by Owl City- they're fast becoming my favorite band!

i heart the other Whitney!

I've never really realized who I look up to for fashion guruness, inspiration, and/or advice until now.  While surfing through one of my favorite sites, stylefinder.com, it kinda slapped me across the face or being less aggressive it was revealed to me through the user friendliness of the flash-something on the website.  It's Whitney Port!  You know who I'm talking about right?!  She was on MTV's hit show 'The Hills' and she later on got her own spin-off called 'The City'.  Anywho, I've always been a huge fan of Whitney (from season 1 of 'The Hills') up till now.  I love the way she dresses... its casual chic with a twist.  It's that individualism that I admire and respect but which I barely ever find in many 'fashionistas' in the world.  No one looks like her and no one can put together a look so effortlessly as she.  Wowww!  Looks like I've got a new fashion crush huh?!  I can't believe I didn't realize it until now.  One of my favorite things about watching those shows was looking out for what Whitney had in store
(through her clothing & accessories) for each season.  Its BEYOND cool how some people can just step out of their homes looking that good without even trying.  Its no secret that many celebs use stylists to make them look good so when someone manages to pull it off sans their own personal fashion guru it kinda is a good thing... a great thing even (yes, I know the show itself probably had a stylist on hand but how hands on was that stylist-denial I know?!).  Whether her style was manufactured or her very own, I still like it and find myself connecting with it the most (wasn't a huge fan of Laurens looks most of the time) .
Soooo my lovelies, me thinketh that I'll be posting a couple of pictures of her every now and then from the stylefinder website so stay tuned- they help you get her look for less how cool is that?!

Nepal's Pretty Fashion Forward

AHHHHH!!! How I've missed blogging!!! Kinda, sorta, really very, very much! Honestly!!! But, since I just had to write, edit, and send me latest article to CO-EDS whilst being super stuffy and sleepy, I'm afraid that I haven't got much writing mojo left in me to blog much... so... instead I'm gonna post a few pictures from my lovely trip to Nepal.  I won't say much about the pictures (a. because I talked about it in my article, b. refer to previous sentence) because I wanna let the lovely images speak for themselves/itselves (what?! making sense?! no!). So I do hope you enjoyyy them as much as I did taking them (cameras don't do justice to the colors I'm afraid).

OS MAAAAN!

I'm absolutely in love, love, love with these pants I saw while watching one of the 'How to Dress..' videos on the guardians website.  I know they kinda look like just regular grey, jersey-mix pants but there's something about them that I'm beyond drawn to.  They give off this comfy slouchy aura combined with a 'come buy me' vibe that you can't get rid of.  I saw this video early last week and I'm still thinking about it.  I know, I know I'm addicted... but what can I say?! I HEART FASHION!  And thanks to people like me we're actually helping local and international business owners stay afloat during these trying times (hehehe... yup this is EXACTLY what I say to myself every single time I walk into a boutique and buy something).
Ok, back to the main attraction, the Osman Yousefzada pants from heaven, behind this post.  Aren't they pure comfort gorgeousness?!  Don't you want a pair of these 80's meet space suit pair of pants?!  Come ON!  I know you do... Anywho, they're around 430 pounds (waaaaay off my budget) but I would seriously LOURVE it if anyone, SOMEONE happened to come across an affordable version of them to PUUULEASE let me know.  I'm hoping ZARA might have something kinda similar.  I'm gonna go exploring tonight hopefully!
For the time being,  I'm gonna continue dreaming of them and nagging poor N-dawg (in London cause Osman's a UK based designer) to keep an eye/ear/mouth/whatever out for them!

Pretty Petticoats on Niagara Falls

I got a bunch of pictures via an email forward and found them super cool because they were images of a frozen Niagara Falls back in the early 20th century.  I'm talking about images of people walking on the falls wearing top hats, trousers, canes, petticoats, and long dresses (yup, by early 20th century I'm talking about 1911).  What made these pictures so unique is the fact that Bahrain was probably a billion degrees warmer during that time and the fact that those ladies managed to walk all the way up wearing all those layers  (and a corset) to just take a couple of pictures (God only knows how the photographer got up there with his entire kit).  Oh and the last thing that made these super pictures super cool was that without the internet I would have never ever known that in 1911 Niagara Falls froze over and would have never seen this elegantly dressed woman (and her buddies) brave the cold (and weight) to get up there and leave her mark on history.  Super cool right?!
And for some sort of reason since I saw that picture my brain automatically starts playing the most random song in my head (I've completely forgotten what its called and who its by) on repeat 'OH YOUR PRETTY PRETTY PETTICOAT' (who sings it for God sake... now I'm frustrated).

Its cool to go back in time isn't it?!  And I love photos/photographers/photography for letting us freeze capture certain moments in the history of planet Earth.

xoxo

P.S. Word of the post: Super... No clue why I used it soooo much?! Maybe cause I'm SUPER excited?! DANG!
