Hess IS More!

Hellooo my lourvely PFFers!  It's been a while, I just finished with this INTENSE 4 day shoot... Not a fashion editorial I'm afraid but an ad campaign thang.  I mustn't complain because I do after all HAVE TO pay ma bills, bills, bills.
I remember telling you guys about bumping into this UNBELIEVABLY stylish person at Cafe Del Mar.  It was cool, he was cool, and I thought his outfit was PFF (yep, Pretty Fashion Forward)!  I stopped this random stranger (I'm sure I freaked him out a tad bit) and asked if I could take a picture of his threads (I'm in gangsta mode today).  Why?!  Because I absolutely LOURVED it! He agreed, I took my pictures, then took a few more with a proper camera, and then decided to chit-chat and introduce him to my family and friends whoever else I was out with that night.  I found out quite a bit that he is: 1. This 6-foot Dane is Mikkel Hess  2. Has a band back in New York called Hess is More and 3. He was in Bahrain performing at Cafe Del Mar (he was on the drums, drumming away on a couple of the sets).
Anywho, I won't bore you with anymore of my jabbering and I'll let this super cool musician from Hess is More tell you all about himself, his music and his look.

What Mikkel's has on: Jacket by Acne, Shirt by Gap, Shorts/Jeans by Uniqlo (because he cut them himself after ppl kept mistaking him for a waiter), Socks by 'the sock man', Shoes are Nike Air Jordans

Q. What do you have on?
A. I am wearing a version my transition outfit. Due to my split personality, I feel most comfortable like this.  Half grown up / half kid. Half serious / half fun. Half tight / half loose.

Q. You mentioned that you absolutely love ur sneakers, what makes them so near and dear to you?
A. I bought these sneakers together with my friend and colleague Jacob Wildschiødtz. (Creative director, nr2154.com, and studio partner in NYC).  We play tennis together - also as a doubles team - and we usually coordinate our outfits for each match. I have played many hours of tennis in these shoes, and they are quite beaten by now.

Q. Describe your style in one word.
A. ? (questionmark)

Q. How long does it take you to get ready on a regular day? And for a gig?
A. My days usually start with 20 minutes of meditation. After that I get dressed in a couple of minutes. Sometimes if my morning routines are off track, I will spend half an hour or more, trying to compensate and get everything right through my choice of clothes. So, simple math proves that the 20 minutes of meditation are well invested, even without considering other possible benefits during the day.

Q. Do you think your style of music influences your style?
A. Through the years I have become aware of my desire to "Stretch the rubber band". I describe my musical project "Hess Is More" as an integrational project, where oppositions can meet. This sometimes seems to be the case also for the way I dress.
Oh and Here's a couple of images of myself with Mikkel and my outfit as well!

What I have on? Cardi by Cos, Tank by Cos, Belt by Zara, Shorts by Urban Renewal at Urban Outfitters, Shoes by Toms, Necklace a gift from my Mom, Watch by Casio

xoxo ma lourvelies!

Foxy Treat 11: 90's High

Foxy Treat 11:

I really wanted to do my own little tribute to my favoritest (you gotta get creative sometimes) brand but due to time constraints I never got around to it (will do next month though...I hope).
I fell IN LOURVE with Wildfox's Resort 2010 collection!  Absolutely adorable! And a complete ode to the 90's in my opinion... a serious step back to the good old 90210 days! Remember them (to those of you who were teens, like myself, at that time)?!
The images I'm posting up for some sort of reason are mostly red but it just works on supermodel Tiernan Cowling.  I love how each collection and each shoot is creative and distinct (another reason why I heart Wildfox).

I hope you get to enjoy my blast from the past too...  For more on my beloved Wildfox and their Resort 2010 click here.

thanks to fashionising for the images

xoxo

P.S. More to come on Kinda Hibrawi and Friends of UNRWA... and look who's destined for greatness here! YAY! I'm sooooooo happy for Sarvi!
P.P.S. Decade of the Day: 1990's (I love the decade, the fashion, the music, & everything in between)

P.P.P.S. Song of the Day: Paradise City by Guns 'n Roses (because nothing & I mean NOTHING says 90's like Guns 'n Roses.  Oh & BahrainiRants took me on a little stroll down memory lane with his air guitar skills.  I'm sad I'm missing the concert in Dubai next weekend... S.A.D. I tell ya!)

Fashion for a Cause

I love fashion, plain and simple.  I love it, live it, obsess over it and on occasion dream of it.  There's just something about this world that has me completely smitten.  Sometimes though, this once labeled 'superficial' industry manages to surprise its cynics by spreading messages of love, peace, beauty, and justice through charity... and I end up falling even deeper in heart with it (thought I'd change it up a little).
What am I blabber-jabbing about?  I came across this super amazing campaign aptly called 'Buy a Tee, Save a Refugee' where a non-profit organization called American Friends of UNRWA partnered up with Arab-American artist Kinda Hibrawi to show their love and support for the Palestinian people (and to support/sustain all the hard work the UNRWA have been making).  A portion from the limited edition, Arabic Calligraphy T-Shirt collection (available here) will go towards the humanitarian work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
This is one of PFF's first fashion-charity posts and I plan on following up with more on this campaign with interviews with Ms. Kinda Hibrawi and the American Friends of UNRWA organization so please stay tuned and don't forget to buy a tee and pay it forward.

xoxo to all you kind hearted PFFers,

P.S. I'll be posting up my interview with Kinda Hibrawi ASAP so keep coming back.
P.P.S. Organization of the Day: UNRWA (because they're the people who are trying to change lives and make a difference through all their hard work. & because for 4.7
million refugees living in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza, UNRWA serves as a life-line by
administering crucial programs such as primary and emergency healthcare, housing, food, and education. Much of UNRWA’s work is focused on gender equality, including a female-based microcredit program and skills training services for thousands of women in areas such as computer literacy, hairdressing and embroidery)

P.P.P.S. Song of the Day: Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson (because when it comes to humanitarianism and spreading messages of love,
peace, and harmony Mr. Jackson's music most definitely comes to mind)
