Last night, I attended a TopShop event where the exclusive Mary Katrantzou collection was to be launched. TopShop was celebrating it's 10th year in support of British Designers. Giving many of them the push they needed to jump start their careers or bring their fashion forward to a wider audience (due to the more affordable price tags). Mary Katrantzou has blessed the fashion industry with fun & funky prints since launching her own label back in 2008. & now, with this collaboration, we get to see yet another reason why we love her designs thanks to TopShop's more affordable price tag.
We had a few talks from top industry insiders here in the Middle East. Where the editor of Harper's Bazaar, Louise Foster, informed us of the importance of such a collection not only in our wardrobes but for the generations to come. & Grazia Middle East editor, Elaine Greenshields, summed up the trends to look out for & the (TopShop) pieces to incorporate into your wardrobes for this season. While Alanoud Badr, gave us a brief introduction into her journey into fashion & how style has been an active ingredient in her life since she was a little girl.
What I'm Wearing:
Jumper by TopShop: Thought it would be appropriate to wear it if ya know what I mean since I was going to a TopShop talk. Cheesy I know but that's how I roll yo! Hahahaha...
Vintage chequered pants by Moschino: These belonged to my mom. They're vintage, two sizes too big (to my relief) but super retro & cool. They even have a peace sign on the back pocket! LOURVE them to bits!
Shoes by Prada: I got these ages ago, in 2009 to be exact, & have worn them a handful of times but just realised how damaged my heel is. I'm keeping my fingers crossed & hoping I'll be able to get them fixed.
Necklace by Vanina at ABC Achrafieh: I also bought this forever & a half ago but it's definitely a piece that I love working into my wardrobe because it's a statement on its own & can take my outfit from day to night or casual to dressy because it's so busy & blingy. Remember to tone the rest of your accessories down if you're wearing a OTT piece like this necklace.
Watch by Seiko at Dubai International Airport: I love this watch for many, many reasons & has become my go to watch each & every day.
Bracelets (in no particular order): Yazi, Symphony Boutique, Bahrain Jewelry Center, Mansi, Henry's Handmade, L'atelier Nawbar.
Fashion catwalk in The Dubai Mall transformed into a cozy little TopShop party
The screens surrounding the area with a big 10 marking the brands 10th year (& yes, that's Mary Katrantzou's print)
Sama Al Wasmi from Al Shaya's TopShop team entertaining us right before the speakers get on stage
Sama, introducing the guest speakers
Louise Foster (in TopShop Unique), Editor of Harper's Bazaar Arabia is the first to start
Louise talking about the various British talent that was able to collaborate with TopShop
Next up was Elaine Greenshields (in Mary Katrantzou for TopShop) giving us a glimpse into the season's trends
Alanoud Badr aka Lady Fozaza talking about her journey in fashion. She's also wearing Mary Katrantzou for TopShop with of course a Lady Fozaza blazer
Post talk mingling
xoxo for now ma PFFers,
P.S. I've decided to hold myself & Bahrainirants under house arrest this weekend. We're going to be lazy & eat & cook maybe take a stroll around our area. It's been a hectic couple of weeks & we're looking for complete & utter chilledness. Keeping my fingers crossed!
P.P.S. Videos of the Day: I've never actually done this before. You know uploaded a video on to my YouTube account. But since I couldn't e-mail it over & post it up here I thought it might be a little more time appropriate to post it up. Forgive my very bad filming skills & sorry if the sound isn't too clear my iPhone can only do so much! Click here & here to get a quick snippet of the talks.
P.P.P.S. Song of the Day: Nowhere Left to Go by Joshua Hyslop (thank GOD for Youtube & it's suggestions because that's kinda how I came across this song & this artist. Technology ROCKS! Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this song & I hope you do too. Have a great weekend my lovelies & I'll be back on Sunday!)
